Abby says...
Next week I’m gonna be three. Then I’m gonna be four, then five. Pretty soon I’m gonna be sixteen and I can drive the car!

Aaron came home and invited Abigail to walk down with him to vote. She ran to grab her shoes telling me, “I’m going to take a little walk with MY DADDY!” Such a Daddy’s girl- more so when staying home with mom. Of course, when having a tantrum first asks for Daddy, but if he is here too, still asks for Auntie. Sure someone will save her from whatever dreaded fate of wearing...

Although she loves her new “big-kid room” we are still transitioning to the new bed. So far, she has not taken a nap in it (causing a few tantrums) She also keeps falling asleep on the floor behind her door at night. She’s not fussing about it, but when I go in later to check on her I inevitably slam the door into her head, then must smear her face across the floor in order to...
Abigail LOVES her new big-kid room. And I love that it (pretty much) has room for all of her toys and a big rug to play on- meaning they are mostly out of my small dining room. Two rooms organized, now to keep going…
Abigail, “Where is it?”
“It’s in your room.”
“In my new room? Or my old room? Where I don’t live anymore?”

Walking back in the stroller from an hour of running round at the park
“Please can I get out and walk?”
“No, we are almost home”
“But I need ‘a get my excersize!”
Planning ahead to Christmas:
“I think diapers would be a good present for my baby sister. I’m gonna get a REAL present.”
“Like what?”
“Umm… a car.”
Abby doing the Donald Duck puzzle:
“Oh-my Donald had a farm, eieio. Oh-my Donald had a sheep, eieio. Sheep says baa baa baa baa black sheep, have any wool? Yes, sir, Yes sir, three bags full.
Mom, this piece goes here, is that awesome? Look, I did it! Can you believe it Mom?”
Had a great summer- so busy! We had lots of playdates at the park, walks to the library and quick trips to the playground. Abigail is big enough now to walk to the close playground (and usually most of the way home) without the stroller- or sometimes with a stuffed animal riding in it instead.
The past few weeks we did lots of visiting- cousins at the shore and fun at grandparents’ houses....

Phrase of the week:
“Let’s do it!”
a summer day
Gotta love it- spent the morning visiting cousins and the ocean. Came home and took naps (me on the sunporch), then went to the playground to play shadow tag and kick around a ball. Aaron met us there, walked us home and made dinner on the grill. Gonna read a few more minutes out on the porch now that the bug is in bed…
Abigail says...
“Look at this big mess someone made in my bed! Can you believe it?”
“Abby, eat your beans.” “That’s not a bean. It’s asparagus. I don’t like asparagus.”
“Sit down Mom, let’s have a talk. So, I work with Eeyore and I do workbooks. Potato head works there too. He takes his arms off, and his eyes.” “That sounds...
We had such a great time in Florida! Abigail didn’t want to come back. The whole time we were there she kept talking about our “new house” and how much she liked it. On the way home we were talking about going back when we heard a little voice say, “But our old house doesn’t have a pool!”
She was happy when we did get home, though, because daddy made her new...

Abigail has been talking about our upcoming vacation:
“I fly on a airpwane. To Disney World. See Mickey Mouse! See Donald-had-a-farm. See animals.” (still a little confused about Donald Duck)
Today Auntie and Uncle had us over for dinner, then Abigail stayed for a sleepover! We weren’t quite sure how she was going to react when we left. We shouldn’t have worried.

Two weeks ago Abigail went to her friend Sam’s birthday party. She got a goodie bag with two lollypops and ate one right away. The other I put away (fully intending to eat it myself) and forgot about it. Yesterday morning she suddenly asked me, “Where my red lollypop?” I said I didn’t understand what she meant, so she elaborated. “I have two lollypops Sam’s...
Love the stories I get in the car on our commute- today she was telling me again about her “little job” that will allow her to buy her “little house, with a little puppy.” Apparently at her job she “does workbooks” and “go on the computer.” “I have two ‘puters, but one broken. Then a big monster took it away! Now I have ‘nother...
This morning Abigail woke up and got her leg stuck in the bars of the crib. Aaron got her out. Later in the car: (Already a guilt- trip master)
“Sometimes Auntie stay home wif me. Sometimes Daddy stay home wif me.”
- “And sometimes Mama stays home and takes care of you, right?”
“No, you no stay home, take care me. I cry. I stuck in my crib. You in the...
A story on the way home the other day:
“Mama, ‘member I went on a walk, saw a tree gettin a haircut? The tree sick, go a doctor. Doctor give tree a haircut, feel better!”
And today:
“Mama, I went a walk today, saw a tree. Tree have a tongue! Stick out tongue at me!”

More Abby-isms
“Hang on a second, Mama. Dis zipper a little bit twicky.”
A song came on the radio she apparently didn’t like. She stuck her fingers in her ears and started singing, “Twinkle Twinkle little star!” REALLY loudly.
“OK, Abigail, you can come in our bed, but it isn’t even 7 yet, so we are all going back to sleep.”
“But, I’m...
Got my hair done by my new favorite hairdresser tonight. She says- “Mama, the big comb for you, cause you big, the small comb for Abby hair, cause I a little kid.” “Oh- yours hair in yours eyes- Sorry, honey.” “I comb some more- that ok? Not done yet. You like it this?”

“Mama, my dinosaur have a name. “
“What is it? Is it Fred? Susie?”
“No, Mama! It name ‘ceratops!”
(somehow I still am surprised by the words she knows…)
Go UConn!
Abigail says:
“Go UCONN!” “They fell down again.” “Yay UCONN!” “Yours shirt say UCONN?”
“I slam my hand on my leg ‘cause they not throw the ball.”
“Watch more UCONN?”
